Babysitting Laws

Postby Aurik » Sat Jun 28, 2014 2:19 pm

HI there, I have been thinking about taking on one or two children during the week to make a little extra money in the house. I am a stay at home. My husband doesn't think its a good idea becuase he says we can get in trouble if something happens while we have the child(accidentwise or something). Do you know what Laws there might be about doing casuaul babysitting for an adult.??  We live in washington state. Thank you. liz

Liz:

DISCLAIMER:

I AM NOT A LAWYER or ATTORNEY. I am someone who has experience with family law issues, and am sharing my OPINION only. For the exact law as it pertains to your specific case contact a Professional Attorney in your area/county

Contact the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services

for details on becoming a Licenses Daycare Provider. I recommend that you become a 'Licensed' one because it removes the risk that your husband is concerned about and puts you on the right path.

Ref Web Site:http://www.childcarenet.org/http://www.del.wa.gov/requirements/info/

Here is some brief Info:

Potential providers complete an application form, which asks for a Social Security number(SSN),and a Criminal History and Background Inquiry form, which does not require the applicant to

provide an SSN. The Department uses the latter form to investigate information that might disqualify the applicant from becoming a licensed child care provider. If a potential applicant has

been in Washington State for less than three years, a nationwide fingerprint check is performed.

Background inquiries are also performed for members of the applicant’s household who are 16 years and older and for employees and volunteers of the applicant. After completion of licensing

procedures, the Department may issue a probationary six-month license or a full three-year license.

Ref:

DSHS Constituent Services PO Box 45130 Olympia, WA 98504-5130 1-800-737-0617 for Washington State information only I recommend contacting DSHS for further details.

Kind Regards,

Jeff
