Can a landlord possess a copy of mmmp papers?

my landlord has asked for a copy of my medical marijuana papers and or card to keep in a file for his records am i allowed to give him this stuff or is it against the law for him to possess someone elses papers he said he just wants it to keep himself safe in case of a fire or anything like this he also wants to be able to come do inspections periodicly to make sure im within my numbers and all he has joined the landlord association in our county and the head of the drug team here runs that and has suggested him to request these things from all his tennants who posses them
