Can I get into trouble for this?

Postby roche » Thu Mar 31, 2011 11:41 am

Me and a girl were arguing on Facebook last night. This woman and her daughter are nothing but a trashy single parent family who seem to be the kind to pursue anything they can to make a few pennies or get themeselves in the paper. But anyway I said on her FB wall (the girl not the mother) "yeah we all know what you did to your mum" and in another post "Yeah everyone will know because Ms Bagshot told us"

Ms Bagshot used to be our primary school headteacher.

The girl's mother emails me saying that i am commiting a defamation of character and making libellous comments. I have made numerous posts following up saying that Ms Bagshot didnt say anything but she is adamant to contact the LEA and forward my comments on to them in order to get them to investigate. Can I get into trouble for this one stupid little comment. Can the LEA track me down and can they do anything to me.

Help Please Im a bit worried. I live in the UK. Please give some advice with regards to UK (English) law. I live in England and am bound by English Law

it is mainly the teacher who would get into trouble due to a breech ofthe confidentiallity act if it is her that made theese comments if not then you shouldnt get in trouble it wil jus be put down to arguments between the two of you.
