Can I sue an ex employer for slander?

Postby barclay76 » Tue Apr 17, 2012 9:16 am

I quit my old job over discrepancies in my pay. Now my ex employer is telling potential industry partners and clients that I was terminated for fraudulent behavior. I have three people that have come forward and all will sign an affidavit confirming my allegations. Can I sue him for slander and/or defamation and if so how would I go about doing this? Thanks in advance for any help

In a civil suit, yes, you can get reparations for the potential loss they have caused you. Given that you have the 3 affidavits, these 3 witnesses are direct evidence for your case.

Firstly, you must consult a lawyer who can take on your case. If you can not afford a lawyer, i do not suggest that you go into civil court before the judge to plea your case.
Second, gather evidence and sub poena anyone who you think is relevant...

I think that should all be it. Bad news is, if its a company you're trying to sue, they have lawyers and contracts which make it so that you can't sue for damages in the event that you are discharged from work. You'll have to get a lawyer to look over that, in any case.

Good luck.
