Can I sue if my employer lied about the reason he fired me?

Postby jomei69 » Sat May 26, 2012 9:01 pm

I worked for the Government as a contracted for 12 years. I was always consider one of the best employee in the department were I worked. About 7 months ago the contractor whom I worked for had hired this lady who was a poor performer. Well the government wanted her out, and I believed she blamed me and the Project Manager for her getting fired and sued the contracting company. Well 7 months later the President of the contracting company that I worked for comes and fire me and the Project Manager, using poor performance as the reason. I never had any write up on my job for poor performance, or anything for that matter. I asked who said I had poor a performance, and he said the girls name that he let go 7 months ago, and another persons name who had no idea what was going on. Can I sue him for slander?
