Can My Ex-spouse Take Me To Court For Money To Pay For Her Medical Bills?

my ex-wife is sick and has stopped taking her medicine and is threatening to take me to court to pay her bills. I spend monthly child support and alimony. What she does with the income I don't know but can she take me to court to get more funds from me to pay for her medical bills? Its been 5 yrs given that we have been divorced

If you can afford it...it would be good for you to attempt to support her. I do Alternative medicine which is cheaper than traditional medicine and it works to fix a person.

This is a question for your divorce attorney. However, I would guess that since you are no longer married to her, and you haven't been for 5 years, she should not be able to get any more money from you. How long are you supposed to pay aliminy? In most states, that's not open ended until they die, but only for a period of time until they can get on their feet and start supporting themselves. you haven't been for 5 years, she should not be able to get any more money from you. How long are you supposed to pay aliminy? In most states, that's not open ended until they die, but only for a period of time until they can get on their feet and start supporting themselves.

No, not unless it's stipulated in your divorce decree papers. She can take you back to court for more child support, but not to pay her medical bills. If she takes you to court, to try and get you to pay her medical bills, and it isn't stated in the divorce decree, she will lose. All bills, that she has accumulated, since your divorce are her bills, not yours. Your not responsible for anything of hers, or for her, except paying your child support and alimony, unless as I stated before, it's layed out in writing, in your divorce decree.
