Icant truly recall. it was a series.it was about like a boy who was told by his parents that he could not get outdoors or otherwise the police or somethings like that may possibly get him away since there was a regulation that a household could not have considerably far more than two little ones to truly save up resources.the boy lives in the loft where he's a slit of light in the outside.from his space he sees something relocate the home nearby & wonders if there's yet another child in there although he noticed that two youngsters lived in that property & no body Otherwise was at residence.then he moves nearby to verify on it out & meets a woman referred to as jess or jen or one thing.they turn out to be pals and she tells him that you will find a lot more kids like them and foretells a number of them in a chat-area on the internet.in the finish she & all of the children like them ready to protest ahead of eveyone.the child tells her that he doesnt wanna go.he finds out that she & other folks have been murdered by the capitol.her father offers him a brand new identity & existence, but from his household.

His parents disobeyed once by having him and are determined not to do anything unlawful again. At first the woods around his family's farm are thick enough to conceal him when he plays and works outdoors, but when the government develops some of that land for housing, his world narrows to just the attic. Gazing through an air vent at new homes, he spies a child's face at a window after the family of four has already left for the day. books One of the greatest challenges of writing is knowing when you?re done. We all fear turning in the manuscript too early: getting rejected, and for things that maybe could have been fixed, had we not rushed to finish. We?ve wasted our chances with the editors or agents who saw it and came away less than impressed. But there?s the flip side, too: who among us hasn?t spent far, far too long on a manuscript? ?I can?t submit this! It needs a major rewrite!? we cry, spending months or even years polishing something that probably should have been submitted long ago?or shelved. It?s so easy to forget that we have a host of novels inside us, waiting to get out. And the line is getting pretty frustrated while they wait for the slow, slow novel in front of them to get the heck out of the way. The book is "Among the Hidden," by Margaret Peterson Haddix and is the first book in the "Shadow Children" series. The boy is twelve-year-old Luke Garner who lives on a farm with his parents and two older brothers. He is in hiding because the Population Police in this totalitarian society are charged with searching out and exterminating third children in an effort to preserve resources and food. The girl he meets is Jen Talbot, another third child, whose circumstances are different because she belongs to a privileged, affluent family. She tries to persuade Luke to attend a rally protesting the treatment of third children, but he is afraid and stays away. His concerns turned out to be justified as Jen and others at the rally are killed. But Jen's father befriends him and helps him to establish a false identity. As the book ends, Luke is ready to go out in the world and begin a new life.

The book, Among the Hidden, by Margaret Peterson Haddix, is the first book in the series the Shadow Children. The quick summary given by wikipedia reads, "The Shadow Children series is a series of seven books by Margaret Peterson Haddix about a futuristic, overpopulated, resource-deprived Earth, and the effects of the government's attempts to quell overpopulation. The Population Police enforce the government's Population Law, killing or imprisoning "shadow children," any third child in a family." Hope this helps!

Book series A book series is a sequence of books having certain characteristics in common that are formally identified together as a group. Book series can be organized in different ways, such as written by the same author, or marketed as a group by their publisher.Fiction booksFictional series typically share a common setting, story arc, set of characters or timeline. They are common in genre fiction, particularly crime fiction, men's adventure and science fiction, as well as in children's literature. Some works in a series can stand alone -- they can be read in any order, as each book makes few, if any reference to past events, and the characters seldom, if ever, change. Many of these series books may be published in a numbered series.Examples of such series are works like The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and Nick Carter. Some series do have their characters go through changes, and make references to past events. Typically such series are published in the order of their internal chronology, so that the next book published follows the previous book. How much these changes matter will vary from series to series(and reader to reader). For some, it may be minor -- characters might get engaged, change jobs, etc, but it doesn't affect the main storyline. Examples of this type include Tony Hillerman's Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn books. In other series, the changes are major and the books must be read in order to be fully enjoyed. Examples of this type include the Harry Potter series. There are some book series that aren't really proper series, but more of a single work so large that it must be published over two or more books. Examples of this type include The Lord of the Rings volumes or The Night's Dawn Trilogy. Some authors make it difficult to list their books in a numerical order when they do not release each work in its 'proper' order by the story's internal chronology. They might 'jump' back in time to early adventures of the characters, writing works that must be placed before or between previously published works. Thus, the books in a series are sometimes enumerated according to the internal chronology rather than in publication order, depending on the intended purpose for the list. Examples of this series include works from the Chronicles of Narnia, where the third book in the series, The Horse and His Boy, is actually set during the time of the first book, and the sixth book, The Magician's Nephew is actually set long before the first book.
