So I've been dealing with a messed up situation that I am willing to take full responsibility for. I let my sister borrow one of my credit cards for a bad situation she was in. She agreed to pay it off when she got the money so as far as I knew she had been making payments. Well come to find out she never made any payments. How this slipped by for almost a year is a long story but it was not in my knowledge that it wasn't being paid. So I get a lawsuit from Capital one and I freak. So I get several letters from lawyers about bankruptcy and wage garnishment and I don't know what to do so I call one of the people that suggested a payment plan. Great right. No the damn guy doesn't do anything to help the situation instead the law firm gets a default judgement for $1800 and call saying that after 2 months of paying this credit counseling company they haven't recieved any payments. So the guy that called from the law firm says that I can set up a payment plan so I set it up. Then while doing research on the firm, Weltman, weinburg & Reis I find out that you shouldn't give them your bank information when agreeing to a payment plan because they'll freeze your account. Well f*** me. So now I'm just ready to pay these people off cause it's causing nothing but stress but apparently I don't understand the process of dealing with these sorts of law things. So what do I need to do to pay them off? beside have the money. Is there any sort of documentation that I should get? What should I be looking out for when making the settlement?
Please help! I really just want this whole ordial to be over with but have little knowledge of how not to get screwed even more in the process :(
