Department of Labor Laws?

Postby plys » Sat Apr 02, 2011 12:38 pm

I just started at this new job last week- I am a full time employee- from 8-4pm- and I only get two 15 minute breaks and no lunch? I have asked questions but everyone kinda looks at me. I know that we can eat at our desk but I heard that is not right getting a lunch- thanks!

Oh I am in Denver Colorado Also!

Department of Labor Laws?

½ hour after 5 hours, except when workday will be completed in 6 hours or less. On-duty meal period counted as time worked and permitted when nature of work prevents relief from all duties.

Your employer would likely argue that permitting you to eat at your desk maybe is a lunch break. I suppose I would see if you did absolutely zero work during that 30 minute break if your employer made any negative comments.
