Does 'pertinent' = '5 years old?' I personally would want to be given all the necessary information about any medical or surgical procedure I was to undergo(and, having had one operation that went seriously wrong, I'm even more wary now than previously). But there are so many problems associated with studies looking for links between abortion and depression that it's far from clear what the actual figures are. The one you quoted - from the BMJ - was published in 2002, and lots of things have changed in medicine since then; I certainly wouldn't want a doctor to think that s/he was giving me 'pertinent' information(which is part of your question) if it was actually more than five years old. There are so many variables at stake in trying to achieve an understanding of this question. It suffers from researcher bias more than almost any other topic in medicine, and there are so many variables in the population under study(i.e. the woman's pre-existing mental health, attitude to abortion, age, home circumstances ... and that's only a few). It's also perfectly possible that the act of being forced to receive 'information' about the after-effects of abortion(as the doctor or counsellor understands them) may increase any post-abortion depression. Frankly, as someone who's been trained to Ph.D. standards in statistics and whose attitude to abortion is that it should be 'safe, legal, and rare,' I'd rather try designing the space shuttle than arrive at a clear answer to this question.
