Drug laws and punishments?

my friend and I talk about these kinds of things a lot, and he claims that where we live (Iowa), having an ounce of marijuana is a felony. He always makes claims like this that seem farfetched, and i was wondering if anybody knew any websites or something that explain more about drug laws and punishments for drug related crimes.
