Ex Filed Bankruptcy, Do I Still Owe Him Money ?

I was married 15 years and we had no children. I agreed to pay him $25000 in 3 years because he was partially disabled at the time. He is working and filed for bankruptcy. Do I still owe that money to him? to the court? to whom?

Not your problem. If the court order says you pay him, that is what you do UNLESS the banruptcy court has specifically ordered you to do something else.

Your problem doesn't actually provide enough info to reply it. When the debt is in a divorce decree, the decree may control it. The debt for your ex is definitely an tool in his bankruptcy. You're to contact the trustee, however, your matrimonial attorney must understand this too. The shape of the duty is crucial, i.e. could it be an email, a court order or perhaps a handshake.

His bankruptcy has nothing to do with YOUR debts.

It is just a question, I am going out of the country for monthos so I was postponing it. I am sure you understand. I remarried last summer and havent heard anything about it that's all. Thanks I will move on.

Your duty is as per order-you own him -what does his trustee have to do with it--my guess is your are trying to meddle --why go there.

The court can decide whether you still owe the money.
