CAK said: 1 My family loves to camp - so it's nothing for us to throw things into the husband's truck and go. We bring what we need, we're careful about wild animals, we pick up everything - things are in rubbermaid tubs, wrapped up...all the things you need to do. We(kids and I) went for a hike and the husband went fishing w/ some friends that met us at our site, great day. Upon our return, I see these paw prints I've never seen before, I really started looking at them and realized they were bear tracks. It would have been fine, but my daughter heard me and yelled, "OMG...we had a BEAR hear??!!??" Yep, now the boy was scared - he was just about to turn 3. About 15 minutes later the park ranger came by to let us know there was a bear in the area, but we should be ok, it seemed to be heading away from our area. My husband returns, I tell him and he blows it off. That night, I finally figured out it really did bother him! We were in the tent, the kids were sound asleep and every little noise, my husband popped up, "What was that??" We both got scared when we saw a shadow on the tent wall of an animal creeping around, sniffing around. It was a raccoon. We felt like dorks and enjoyed the rest of the trip. We've gone to sleep in very chilly weather, to wake up to snow. We've been in the middle of a horrible storm...that one we had to get the kids up and sleep in the truck. Worst experience and why we try to stay away from most over populated campgrounds, drunk neighbors...at 4am in the morning, trying to sing. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! 64 months ago
