Have Any Good Hiking Stories?

Postby ricker » Sun Dec 22, 2013 4:52 am

Cooking Numerous years ago. January camping/caribou hunting in Alaska. Seven folks pitched a tent within an abandoned saloon and snowmobiled in about ten kilometers from the freeway. Got so cold that the tent froze strong like a rock. 7 AM. Pitch dark. "KNOCK, KNOCK!" about the frozen tent flap. Drag open the flap. Alaska State Policeman sticks his head in. Views a tent saturated in firearms and us thawing frozen Budweisers over a Coleman Variety. "You in the Air Force Base?" "Yup" "Don?t play with firearms if you?re drinking." "Okay" And he left. Didn?t get any caribou but used to do crash a snow machine by way of the wall of the saloon and be eligible for a the Vice-Presidency.   JBENZ's Recommendations Hunting Trophy Caribou Amazon List Price: $19.95 Utilised from: $12.49 Average Customer Rating: three. out-of 5(predicated on 1 reviews) JBENZ 64 weeks ago Please sign in to give a supplement. Have Any Good Camping Stories?

CAK said: 1 My family loves to camp - so it's nothing for us to throw things into the husband's truck and go. We bring what we need, we're careful about wild animals, we pick up everything - things are in rubbermaid tubs, wrapped up...all the things you need to do. We(kids and I) went for a hike and the husband went fishing w/ some friends that met us at our site, great day. Upon our return, I see these paw prints I've never seen before, I really started looking at them and realized they were bear tracks. It would have been fine, but my daughter heard me and yelled, "OMG...we had a BEAR hear??!!??" Yep, now the boy was scared - he was just about to turn 3. About 15 minutes later the park ranger came by to let us know there was a bear in the area, but we should be ok, it seemed to be heading away from our area. My husband returns, I tell him and he blows it off. That night, I finally figured out it really did bother him! We were in the tent, the kids were sound asleep and every little noise, my husband popped up, "What was that??" We both got scared when we saw a shadow on the tent wall of an animal creeping around, sniffing around. It was a raccoon. We felt like dorks and enjoyed the rest of the trip. We've gone to sleep in very chilly weather, to wake up to snow. We've been in the middle of a horrible storm...that one we had to get the kids up and sleep in the truck. Worst experience and why we try to stay away from most over populated campgrounds, drunk neighbors...at 4am in the morning, trying to sing. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! 64 months ago

Have Any Good Camping Stories?

Postby Kade » Tue Feb 04, 2014 9:14 am

Many years ago. February camping/caribou hunting in Alaska. Eight of us snowmobiled in about 10 miles from the highway and pitched a tent inside of an abandoned saloon. Got so cold that the tent froze solid as a rock. 7 AM. Pitch dark. "KNOCK, KNOCK!" on the frozen tent flap. Drag open the flap. Alaska State Cop sticks his head in. Sees a tent full of rifles and us thawing frozen Budweisers over a Coleman Stove. "You from the Air Force Base?" "Yup" "Don?t play with guns if you?re drinking." "OK" And he left. Didn?t get any caribou but I did crash a snow machine through the wall of the saloon and qualify for the Vice-Presidency.
