Help I need to know how much I could be sued for in possible libel suit?

Postby cinnard » Thu Mar 31, 2011 10:32 pm

I sort of asked about this in an earlier question. I posted a comment which I believed to be true about a website in the UK and they sent me pm's that what I did was defamatory. The comments were removed less than 2 days later, I apologized to the website owner and even went so far as to offer to do whatever it takes to make things right. I even got e message from the site owner saying she's going to drop the issue, but I still feel terrified. Please let me know if you think they've really accepted my apologies or if they might sue me and possibly for how much(rough estimate). I posted the comments in New Mexico, USA by the way. Legal experts welcomed, thank you very much.

they are in UK, you are in the US, I woudl not worry - they just scared the sh.t out of you, better you learn from it.. in UK we are not as money grabbing as the US, often an apology in public carries great weight, esp if the comments werenot maliciously intended.. in the US you coudl be ruined financially.... I would not travel to the UK for a while... stay in the desert in NM

if she said she is going to drop the issue then trust that, plus they deleted the comments so now, they have no proof of the comments even being made. i wouldnt worry about it too much. sounds like you were all just under a misunderstanding situation.
