This is a true story:
one company hired a nurse to run a program at work for people who were on workers comp. It was for employees released for modified duty or limited hours and others who are "healthy" but unable to do their regular job.
In this program the employees received their full regular wages instead of workers comp reduced wages. The program was a regular 40 hours a week.
What it was is: this nurse taught the employee's about healthy living, ways to reduce strees, etc. The would go on walks and watch videos and such.
The company was a big warehouse and most of the employees were truck drivers or traditional warehouse kind of folks. this was not part of their regular "life" and the employees HATED IT!!!
But the process worked wonders, although probably a completely different outcome than the company expected... there was a 45% reduction in time out on workers comp.
- I guess if they were going to have to come to work everyday and get their full salary the employees thought doing the regular job was better than that program.
