Also, I would avoid politics and any mention of religion here--those topics will doom you with some, and they will not give you helpfuls or compliments for any question/answer you do.So you have to decide what's important to you--your beliefs, or getting ahead in the numbers here! You've only been here 2 months, don't worry about the awards, most of us older members don't even look at them, they are just pictures to us. As far as getting compliments and helpfuls, you will get those IF you deserve them, they are not handed out like Halloween Candy. Don't "guess" at answers if you don't know, don't answer. And don't ASK for helpful votes,. I for one HATE that and won't give a helpful to anyone who asks for one, no matter how great their answer is. It will take time, and honesty, and the compliments and helpful votes will just come. Even the helpful ratings has lost all meaning to many of us. We used to be able to vote unhelpful, with those and the helpfuls a realistic % was figured out. But now since all you can do is vote helpful you can't GET anything except 100% even is a lot of your answers suck. So don't be thinking the % helpful means anything, it doesn't. It's just a matter of working at it. Ask and answer a lot of questions, be helpful and nice, and you will soon earn awards, compliments, and votes. Give compliments, yourself, to others; that may help remind them to also give them out. Remember: some of us have been here YEARS, and it's taken all those years to get high numbers, plus it was easier in the past to get them. It would be fun if they offered more awards and badges like FourSquare does, but the staff doesn't seem that interested in doing anything fun like that anymore, I'm afraid.
