Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome malpractice lawyer!?

Postby wilbart » Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:57 pm

My son was born with a rare congential heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He was diagnosed at 26 weeks gestation by fetal ECHO. He had open heart surgery at 9 days old. He recovered and went home quickly. He was closely monitored by a cardiologist and pediatrician. As far as I knew, he was doing well.

Some complications arose that the hospital was aware of, but did not make us aware of. These complications lead to my son's death at 2 months old. The hospital screwed up and I lost my baby.

I want to file a lawsuit against the doctors for this neglect, but I am having troubles. Every lawyer I contact do not care about my son, they care about the money. It's true, my son could have lost his life at any time. 1 in 5 babies die from this condition in their first 6 months of life and only 50% make it to their 5th birthday. The difference is my son's complications were caught early, and there was a SIMPLE solution to them that could have saved his life.

WHERE can I find a lawyer willing to take on this difficult case and help me get justice for my son?!
(I am located in southern California)

You are absolutely correct, they are in it for the money. It's their livelihood. I never went to work bc I was bored of being at home either, it was for the money. That's not a bad thing.

Medical malpractice lawyers generally work on a percentage of recovery meaning if they lose they get nothing, regardless how much money they spent on the case. Therefore they only take cases they feel are winnable. It's nothing against you or your child, it's simple economics.

If you've given a couple lawyers all the relevant facts and they didn't bite then there's just no case.
