Can I deduct attorneys fee that I paid for workers compensation against the Insurance company that represented my former employer?

You cannot deduct those fees. The reason: the income is tax free. So expenses of getting tax free income are not deductible.

Usually attorneys dont ask for money upfront and whatever settlement you get they get a set percent, it varies per state. You can look at your state's official workman's comp site. It should be around 20%. If they dont get you any money, then they do not get any money.
