NO it does not mean you are smart intellectually, but it is probably a smart idea to have a degree and this is not how I feel, but how most of the world feels. Most employers feel that if you have that piece of paper, you are more valuable than the person who does not have one. I have been a bankruptcy paralegal for 26 years and I learned by doing the work. I do not have a degree. IF I had a degree, I could probably make 2 or 3 times what i make right now as far as salary goes and I probably know just as muchas most paralegals with degrees know. As a wise man once said ..."Everyone is smart about something". There are also folks who have a degree who really did not learn anything, but they were very good with memorization and therefore got good grades and therefore graduated with their degree. I have a girl work for me like that ...yep she had a paralegal degree and excuse the expression, but she was dumb as soap when it came to what our job was.   LglSec 35 months ago

I didn't begin to know anything until I began to study the Bible. None of all the rest of that malarkey I'd learned in college/university meant anything useful nor meaningful until there was a context for it all. Degrees mean one is able to jump thru the hoops. That would go for most of the presidents we voted in. I am willing to vouch that someone without a college degree but the right campaign team and backing can be equally successful believe it or not. I mean we have a black president 50 years after the launch of a civil rights movement that address stark nationally abundant racism. No. Nor does having a college degree mean that you are rich. But I think that if you sampled a cross section of college graduates with a cross section of high school graduates, you would find that college graduates(as a whole) are both more highly compensated and score better on standardized IQ tests(one measure of "smart").Having two degrees making you twice as smart is a ridiculous question. How are you measuring smart? Standard IQ test? Two degrees does not mean twice the score. Surely you know that, being a college graduate yourself?   @Goldie 35 months ago
