If you're going to do that you might as well just take the GED!

I guess if you want to get used to online schooling then your first assignment should be to look this stuff up yourself!

Online free programs are just correspondence programs run by public schools. They are not traditional homeschooling. You are actually enrolled in a public school. They will set your schedule so I'm not certain you could finish earlier than regular school. They will also provide the curriculum you will use and do not allow changes so if something isn't working, you're still stuck using it. However, if you did independent homeschooling you could go at your own pace and use curriculum of your choice that fits your learning style.

Here is a link that will help you figure out the home school laws in California. http://www.hslda.org/laws/ Just click on your state. If you are doing an online public school you are still being "public schooled". If you are homeschooling under a non public school option you can usually finish early, but it does involve work and effort on your part. Good luck!
