Is it illegal to use (but not possess) drugs?

Anyway, let's say a person discovers a cannabis plant growing wild in the outdoors somewhere, and decides to eat some of the leaves, there and then, and gets high. I.e., he or she simply picks the leaves off the plant and sticks them directly in his/her mouth and chews them and swallows them.

Is that person committing a crime?

If so, then I suggest that the law is ridiculous!

That happens ALL THE TIME...no but not really.

As far as I know, it is illegal to:
- Be under the influence of drugs
- Possess drugs

Honestly , if you are running around eating random plants, there is something much more wrong with you. You are still committing a crime, if you know it is cannabis and decide to have a taste. Since you are technically "Under the influence".

Yes, that's a crime.

It's impossible to use a drug without possessing it. If you stick the leaf in your mouth and rip it off of the plant with your teeth, the leaf is now inside your mouth. You possess it.

...I don't think you can actually get high that way. But, yeah, it's still illegal.

It's legal to BE HIGH; if a cop stops you and you're high on your property but you don't have any drugs on you/in your house, he can't arrest you.
