Is my chiropractor scamming me?

Postby chay » Thu May 14, 2009 8:33 pm

I hurt my back at work lifting a heavy object improperly, my boss told me to to go his chirpractor because he is the BEST. (arent they all.) Well I was going to him 3 times a week, to twice a week, and he would twist me and my back would crack, but it wouldnt really feel better, I would go back to work, and it would still be sore all day.
He told me it would take time, and not to lift heavy objects for a while.
I listened, I didnt lift heavy objects, about a month later after continuing his treatment he asked me if I was lifting... I said no, you told me not to, he said, well Start lifting you have to build strength back there, so I did, it still hurt, I told him, he said No dont lift, I said okay I wont even though you told me to last time. It still hurt, he kept twisting me and it still cracked, but still is sore. I quit going to him after the workers compensation board told me that I was cut off because I am not improving. I havent gone for about a month and now my back only hurts a little, but mostly hurts when I get up in the morning. Any suggestions? Was this guy "keeping me broken" to make money off me? Anyone have any suggestions of what I should do or where I should go so I can get my back back to normal? I am 27 and it never hurt before, now I feel I will end up an old cripple because of one bad lift.

Is my chiropractor scamming me?

I was in a car accident several years ago and also went to a chiropractor who was of no help. I could not even lift my head in the shower to wash my hair. And yes, they will keep you coming back for the money (the no good ones will) I did have one good one once before but that was a different circumstance. Finally I went to a DO who fixed me. It took 2 years but my back is better (although I have Fibromyalgia from the accident) and I have no problem lifting my head anymore. I have to go to him every now and then when something pops out but he was my miracle worker. I suggest you find a DO who does manipulations and go to him. They can do fantastic stuff to relieve pain.

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. No way to know for sure unless he is investigated. It's always possible that he really just wasn't any good at what he was doing. Go to an MD.
