Unfortunately the answer is, "It depends."
There are many things that I would want to know if you were in my office seeking help. I'd want to know if you were married. If so, where does your spouse live? I notice you say that you live in Missouri but have Medicaid in Kansas. Where is the home, who lives in it, and do you really live in Missouri or do you live in Kansas? If you live in Missouri, Kansas is not going to want to continue to handle your Medicaid case I'd think. Do you have any children? Are any of them disabled? Do you still live at home?
The answers to these questions and others would be important to make a determination about what you can, can not, should, and should not do. If there is currently no Medicaid lien already placed on the home you can sell it. If there IS a Medicaid lien on the property
there is still the possibility that you could sell it and retain the income. However, selling my be the most dangerous thing you can do. If you sell your home you will have income that could potentially disqualify you from Medicaid.
To appropriately answer your question you need to sit down with an attorney who does this type of work and have a conversation that will help you determine what your best course of action is.
Right now I can not make a determination what you should do. There is just not enough information. I'm sorry I was not able to be of more help.
Best of Blessings,
