Moving into a apartment that the other tenant has a eviction notice and wondering how longs a eviction process?

Im moving into new apartment that,the other tenant,has a eviction notice for nonpayment of rent.we contacted the landlords last week and they said theyd have to go to court and stuff and the tenant is getting his stuff ready,and was wondering why we have to wait til the 13th just to get keys to the new place? how does the eviction process go
