My company is headquartered in New York, a majority of the employees are located there. But there are about 5 smaller offices through out the U.S. California, Florida, for example.

Would an employer in NYS be violating any labor laws if an employee voluntarily works through meal break period so they could get overtime pay or comp time? For example, if an employee forgoes lunch break, to earn an hour of extra pay and/or an hour of extra time off each day, would the employer be violating any laws?
