I suffered a 4th degree tear after an episiotomy and when it was repaired, I had a recto-vaginal fistula. After noticing bowel leakage between my stitches, I went to my doctor and she schedule me to be resewn six weeks later. Two days after my second repair, I felt the urgency to have a bowel movement and when I went to the restroom I could literally feel stitches ripping yet no stool was coming from my rectum it wad coming from my vagina. I called the doctors office and explained what was going on and was told in a rude tone I just needed to be patient and let it heal. After hours of unbeatable pain I went to the er where I found out my rectum had been sewn shut. I went to a colon clinic where they performed a Ileostomy in order to allow my bowels to heal. I spent 12 days in the hospital and dropped down to 80 pounds as a result of all the physical changes. I wound up losing my state job of 4 years, my insurance, apartment. My question is do you think I have a case and if so, what should I ask for?
