Questions about Trademarking?

Postby joachim » Mon Oct 31, 2011 3:11 am

Ok, I have some Questions about Trademarks in UK:

1) What is the process of applying for a trademark? (Does a lawyer need to be involved or is it case of filling out a form online?)

2) How much does registering a trademark cost?

3) What are the laws concerning the use of trademarked terms because they clash with a term you want to use? (For example: If someone had 'Y.A.S' and its meaning 'Yahoo Answers Squad' (off the top of my head since we are on Yahoo Answers and I couldn't think of another example) trademarked, but someone wanted to use Y.A.S to mean Yellow Artists Squad on and print it on something for personal use (yourself or group of friends) and not commercial use (i.e. to sell for profit), Would the latter be breaking the law?

Questions about Trademarking?

There are a lot of laws and regulations concerning these things, which is why you have to go to what are called "Patent Attorneys" who fill out the forms and deal with all the other issues that can arise with such things. And it is "Patent Attorneys" who do all those things here in the uk, you can't do it yourself. Patent Attorneys deal with trademarks as well asa patents
