Rules for Opening an Online Store?

I live in San Diego, CA. Here we have a store known as Everything-a-Deal/Everything 5.99, etc. What are the rules/laws against reselling? If I was to make an online store, buy things from them and sell them online, is that illegal? Is there a place I can read up on these laws online? I want to make a store, where I'd be selling clothes, accessories and stuff I make, but also I am wondering if it's possible to sell things I buy from other places too. This store is a huge warehouse like store, where they have name-brand and stuff that would be usually expensive but they sell it a lot cheaper. Any help, or links are good. Thank you in advance.

Nevertheless, I think you will have to consult a lawyer at least once before you embark.
There is absolutely no problem on reselling. What does Amazon do? Buy from publishers and sell it online. No problems regarding that.
I have seen Shoppers' Stop and other retail outlets in India selling stuff of other established brands, there is no doubt you can resell.
