I think the severest fault here is, as noted in the article, her woeful misuse of the phrase "blood libel." While technically correct(libeling others with guilt of someone's blood), it is actually incorrect because the phrase is already taken. In other words, she didn't think first and speak later. She picked a phrase she'd heard and used it for what seemed appropriate without first finding out what the phrase really meant. And this is a fault many Americans commit, even some here on Askville. Hey, Abraham Lincoln was home-schooled and he learned this language by reading the dictionary. See, I do think that the connections between Tea Party "second amendment solutions" and this murder are tenuous at best, like blaming some actual butterfly for a storm in Brazil.But if you're going to pretend that the map with the targets and violent terminology are used equally by both sides of the aisle, I know you're either stupid or lying. I am willing to believe that the connection was unfortunate but coincidental. I am not willing to believe that you don't even think it's a coincidence. I still don't think it's intentional, and I fully believe that Palin and the rest of her tea partiers deplore violence.
