Peace at any cost? That's what it boils down to, and pure ignorance of the dangers. Are you aware of the willingness of some of those other cultures to torture and murder at random? A young man we know came back not too long ago from duty. While on sentry duty, a truck pulled up in front of the building. Women were screaming in the back of it and babies were crying. After the truck stopped, the men got out and pulled out the women and children and babies and hacked them to death in front of the sentries who were not allowed to interfere on orders that all actions must be defensive and after attack. They were not to interfere in 'internal affairs.' This young man was sobbing while telling us what he witnessed. Recently the wife of the opposition leader in Zimbabwe was tortured and murdered simply because she was the wife of the opposition. Slight chance of a terror attack? They are spinning out of control with the ability to control a nuclear attack. Fun to think about, eh? You have NO idea how grateful my husband and I and many others are for the incredible work being done by our men and women overseas who are trying to not only protect us from a distance, but stabilize volatile situations and protect the citizens of other countries as well. Now, should YOU be willing to give your life to protect our country? That is personal to you. Your decision. As for me, I am sixty now and not much good for any defense of anything. But I am thankful for what others are doing and while I am deeply sorry that lives have been lost in the process, they are the lives of heroes, not of those living in the luxury and comfort their blood has secured. tuppence 67 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment.
