Should I apply for jobs online like at MonsterJobs.com etc. ?

Postby dureau » Wed Aug 01, 2012 1:01 pm

I have applied for over 1.5 years at various chain retail sites online and sites like MonsterJobs.com. I have NEVER received a reply, not one from any business and most of these places you only need a high school diploma. I'm not an expert at landing a job obviously. The few decent jobs I've had in my life I usually just showed up, talked to the manager, told them my situation and filled out the paperwork. The best job i ever had my sister-in-law referred me to this place, BUT i still had to interview and was told later that my sister-in-law did NOT get me the job. I am 49 years old, liberal arts degree, i feel i will get a job of some kind soon, i just don't trust family members that keep suggesting that i apply at the online job sites when NONE of them ever got a job that way. Tomorrow i am actually going to call some businesses in the mall that WANT you just to call in to see if you might fit their requirements. None of these will pay much, but at least i will have the chance to talk to somebody one on one. I am desperate and i am trying to avoid fast food for many reasons i won't go into here. Please, no BS answers on this Question just to gain points so you can ask your own, this is serious. Thank You ;)

You could check with your local unemployment office, or a temp agency. Both of those places should be able to give you some good advice & possibly get you into a job.
