I've spent the past 2 years totally restoring my 1971 Harley Davidson FLH. I wanted more power than the original 74" engine offered but wanted to keep the original engine because the numbers matched the frame numbers. I purchased a 93" S&S hot setup for $2800 and a new S&S billeted rocker covers for $1500 and a new electronic ignition for an additional $500. I had a local cycle shop machine the cases and do the rebuild for a cost of $5800. On my first ride the engine fried. I had another shop take the engine apart and inspect the work. They found that the cases had been cracked and repaired. They also found that a 1986 nose cone had been installed(the original was probably damaged at the same time the cases cracked) and because the oil ports did not align, the engine was starved of oil. The cycle shop has admitted fault and its insurer is offering me 5k because "they only cover parts and not the labor". I am out of my original cases, and the more than 10k I invested, should I sue?
