Splitting A Rent In Ny - Landlord Low-Attentive To New Candidates

Postby eliot » Sat May 31, 2014 5:20 am

Our issue entails landlord-tenant legislation within the State-Of: Nyc, New York.
Our rent is up in 8 weeks but I had been let go and also have to maneuver home in another state.
And so I informed the landlord having a month notice.
They stated I will split the rent and discover a brand new tenant but I'll result in the remainder of the word when the condo stays vacate.
I've discovered a few people however the landlord was low-receptive and incredibly sluggish in granting them, those individuals choose to discover another place.
The time is ticking today (I've significantly less than 3 months to locate a new tenant), I do not understand what to do.
Easily do not purchase the remainder of the word, they're likely to sue me.
but may I lure they have not try in mitigating their harm?
What type of proof do I want?

Breaking A Lease In New York - Landlord Non-responsive To New Applicants

Cheers for the aid LawResearcherMissy!
I fixed the problem by signing a Surrender Contract using the administration organization, essentially surrendering my safety deposit to interrupt the rent once as well as for all.
It's lots of cash but atleast I dont need to be worried about the chance of spending money on the remainder of the lease period.
I actually don't understand if landlords often do this but I would recommend this as a means out for several additional rent-breakers!
