Substantive Law Research Topics?

Postby wattekinson86 » Thu Apr 07, 2011 1:05 am

I am taking an online "Substantive Law" class. Our final paper is a six pages in lengths. I'm not a good person at going off on a broad subject, I really need to be told what I'm doing my paper on. This is what was given to us by the teacher.

"There will be a research paper due the second to last week of the course. Students will be required to select a court case or constitutional amendment that relates to a criminal law or similar in nature topic. The paper must at least 6 pages in length to include a title, abstract, body and reference page. Please put your paper in APA formatting and make it no longer than 10 total pages in length. The paper must be uploaded to the research paper assignment folder. The paper is worth 200 points."

I just don't really know what he wants and contacting him has proved fruitless. Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks!

Try

Terry v. Ohio, 392 U.S. 1 (1968), was a decision by the United States Supreme Court which held that the Fourth Amendment prohibition on unreasonable searches and seizures is not violated when a police officer stops a suspect on the street and searches him without probable cause to arrest, if the police officer has a reasonable suspicion that the person has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime.

The stop was based on suspicion, the crime was possession of a weapon, the verdict was guilty, appealed, overturned on 4th amendment grounds. Case set precedent.

Let me know how it works.
I've got many other ideas if not.
Hope this helps.
