The baby of my friend died in the hospital because of neglect of the nurses..

where exactly did this happen? i'm a lawyer in the Phil., maybe just for education we can discuss here the merits/ chances of their case. . . what if the hospital really can justify the cause of the baby's death? wouldn't it also bring peace in the parents knowing it wasn't because of some other person that their child died but really because of an illness? at any rate, i would like to refuse to be affected by this story because it's really heartbreaking. so i just concentrated on your question whether or not they have a case against the hospital. i also relate to the sentiment of being poor and not being able to go to private hospitals where presumably one can be better taken cared of. but then, for the benefit of the next generation, the present really has to sacrifice a lot, even being with family just to go up the social ladder.

it happened in a public hospital in abad santos. i think it's jose reyes (not sure about the name).. you're right, maybe the baby really died because of an illness and that may also be the reason why the baby's situation got bad on the third day. but for me, i think the most frustrating part is why the nurses on duty didnt even bother to check or see what is wrong even when the mom is already running and shouting for help. Maybe, if the nurse paid attention to her, they would still be able to save the baby or even if not, at least it would be less painful to the parents.. and also, in my opinion, being poor doesnt and should not be a hindrance for them to be getting good treatment and care from the hospitals. I think that's the purpose of public or government hospitals right? TO be able to treat people who dont have enough money to afford staying in private ones.And since they are wearing their uniforms as nurses, they should take care of every patient in their hospital regardless if they have enough money or not.

i'm so sorry to hear the sad news... it is really maddening that hospitals can do that to a human life... whether it is a public or private hospital, it doesn't make any difference... nurses and doctors should provide service to people and it is their duty to save humans' lives... i can understand how your friend feel as i will feel the same if this incident happens to me... i will pray for your friend and his family so that God will give him the comfort and strength that they need to overcome this difficult situation...

That is more then neglect. That is derlicition of duty. Yes they should sue and make sure that they list all the doctors, nurses and everyone they can that was there. That way they can't try to push the blame on someone else. I'm so sorry for their loss and it shouldn't have happened. It was wrong of the nurses and other staff to do that. I wish I could say this is the first time I've heard of such but it's not. Please let your friend know it has nothing to do with his earnings. I've known others who have had insurance and could afford to pay and problems still happen.

I would sue even if it took an eternity to bring them to justice! if nothing else this would teach the hospital staff that even poor people deserve good treatment.. this little girl deserved so much more than she received and I would make sure that it wouldn't happen to anyone else's baby. by the way.. I would sue their @sses to eternity. I'ld make sure that every single person in that hospital that night that ignored her and her child, lose their job and medical liscense. They don't deserve them anyway. It shouldn't matter if you have money or not, they should have assisted her. That's irresponsible and they neglected to provide the baby with the proper care. She was already in the hospital she should not have died.

What a tragedy! I think they should sue. They lost their little daughter, and if nothing else, while it won't bring the baby back, maybe it will make the staff at that hospital never make those mistakes again.
