The Concert last night - what did you think were the best acts and the worst?

I thought the best by a mile was, surprisingly for me, Tom Jones. Second was Elton who may not be quite the same as he once was, still put on a heck of a show. I don't like him, but Robbie was good too. I also enjoyed the classic bits, It's Now or Never, rock version being particularly notable.

Bad - CLIFF RICHARD. Not unexpectedly as it was obvious his voice wasn't good during the pre-concert interviews. Then there was Paul ....... it's time he WENT. Sorry but his contribution at the end was p a t h e t i c. Grace Jones - odd, but then she's always been strange.

The comic turns were hysterical.

I thought the TV camera work and direction (choice of shots) were abysmal - we got no chance to look at anything. Just cut-cut-cut, lots of long shots where you can't see what's going on, split with close-ups so tight you can't see all the performers. When you get shots of the Royal box less than 1 second long, you can't see anything.there either.

The Thames Pageant was the same endless cutting from shot to shot, by the time the commentators were explaining what you were seeing, it didn't apply, because the cameras were looking at something else.

BBC - you are supposed to be good at these grand events - so why did you put the B-team on?
