Hi everyone,
My mom bought a new vehicle towards the end of last year, since then there has been faults with the car. For example, the Bluetooth module clunking when starting the ignition, central locking doesn't lock, no paint protection (when it was bought within a package) and repainting was needed on the bonnet of the car. Though these problems were fixed upon agreement and an extra year of warranty was added, this is unacceptable on a purchase of a new car.
Are we eligible for a replacement/refund? The only problem so far after all the repairs is that the Bluetooth module is still making a clunk noise after the engine starts up.
I have spoken to the manager at the dealership and he has advised me that the car will only be replaced if it has to do with safety issues. Isn't central locking and a key which doesn't lock a car already a safety issue? I have spoken to an 'over-the-phone' lawyer, they said the same thing. Should we wait for a brake to go faulty then worry? However they did offer to contact the dealership's company and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. In addition to that, I have contacted Consumer Affairs, they sent me a template to send so I guess that helps.
I need more advice on the right approach to this situation.
