I am also interested in the compatibility of your proposed office suite with Microsoft Office documents.

I'd go with MS Office for compatibility reasons. Meaning it is pretty regular and almost everyone utilizes it. If cost is an situation then go with OpenOffice.

wilcoxon said: 1 Microsoft Office isn't even compatible with Microsoft Office if the documents contain macros. MS Office(2002-2007 anyway) for Windows uses VBA for macros. MS Office for Mac 2008 uses Applescript(I'm not sure what earlier versions used). The next release of MS Office for Windows is supposed to drop VBA support(and go to some other language for macros). 67 months ago

Microsoft Office isn't even compatible with Microsoft Office if the documents contain macros. MS Office(2002-2007 anyway) for Windows uses VBA for macros. MS Office for Mac 2008 uses Applescript(I'm not sure what earlier versions used). The next release of MS Office for Windows is supposed to drop VBA support(and go to some other language for macros).
