Because the government allows all sorts of entitlements people do not have to work....

I've heard folks say, hey you need to pay your fair share! Well, when 47% of American pay NO taxes whatsoever, that's NOT fair

Why are there so many people on welfare ?

Postby aethelbert35 » Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:22 pm

Good question. There are jobs hard to come by lay offs factories cutting back on labor some close for good some people r lazy. You have women that just want to have kids using children as away or excuse not to work, so they turn to the government for help. Then you have dead beat dads that dont want to helpbtake care of their children so their u have it. But the people republicans like that so they can talk about it. No jobs or not hiring how do your family get fed?

Cable, Cell Phone bills and Electric Bills are full of taxes as well

Agreed.

You will hear that we need to supplement those who live below the poverty line. The truth is the poverty line is arbitrary. The Government does and average of all incomes in America, this is the mean average. Then they pick a percentage of that income...we will say 25%. The point where the lowest 25% of full time wage earners are at is the poverty line. The key is Full time wage earners. Of course this includes those who earn nothing. An example is if the average is 100,000 a year the poverty line would be 25,000. Or if the average is 200,000 then the poverty line would be 50,000 a year. Can you imagine $50,000 income is poverty in America. But remember the percentage can change as well. We will say the government wants everyone to think they deserve something from the government and to justify the newly created "bribe for votes program" they change the percentage to 50%. So now a person making 100,000 is entitled to governmental help of some kind.

The poverty line is a moving target...it gives the government an excuse to tax. Let us look at the government as a charity. If you were donating to a charity and fo every dollar in it used 95% to cover operating costs of the charity....would you donate? This is your government at work.

The poverty line based on the UN. Yes the United Nations, yes I said it.... the UN says anyone living on less than $2US is below poverty...globally. That is $60 dollar a month, $720 a year. This is the global standard of poverty according to the UN.

Why are there so many people on welfare ?

Check out the criteria and testing required to get on 'welfare' and you may find some enlightenment.

Your tax list is impressive but folks with money do not pay those at least at face value. It's good you listen to your father in drunken rants on why he is not a success but at least get smart enough to figure out who is pulling the strings and where the real money trail is.

Why are there so many people on welfare ?

All those taxes and yet our country still has some 72 trillion in unfunded debt! Why all the taxes? How it that new and increasing revenue streams only add up to more taxes, but no surpluses?

To be fair, many are on welfare because the policies created by Obama and other politicians are either killing jobs, which is intentional. Or they are running the jobs off our shores, think NAFTA.

Our own Dick Snyder in Michigan has taken jobs away by killing a thriving film industry. All the movies made here have brought in over a billion dollars in revenue and hiring of people in the film industry, plus all the buying and selling that goes with it such as restaurants and material goods. Now this is all gone, and the politicians are scrambling to see what they can wreck, next.

You don't pay the VAST majority of those so you shouldn't be concerned about them. And that's how taxes work. Everybody pays so that people in need can survive. I bet if a crisis happened and you lost your job and had to turn to welfare that you'd stop complaining awfullly quick
