Why Do We Disrepect Veterans/military?

Postby Asaph » Thu Mar 03, 2016 3:40 pm

These people live barely above poverty level, have social lives all messed up - here today, gone tomorrow when commanding officer orders it. They defend our rights so we can live well. Our thanks? Deplorable medical care in VA Hospitals and now bodies put in the wrong graves at the military cemetery in Arlington. Shouldn't we be treating these folks a lot better? They earned it and definitely deserve better treatment.

How did that ribbon prevent bodies buried in the wrong place in Arlington? How does that help posttraumatic stress disorder? It doesn't. If people love the military so much, wearing ribbons, why not put actions to it - volunteer, contribute, make things better for them? A pin on a lapel is not enough. More action is required. 69 months ago

JEMS_Mom replied to post #2: 5 Are you not aware of the recent issues at Arlington National Cemetary where veterans were buried on top of others, disinterred and moved with notification of the family, misplaced and misidentified bodies? His question is not about the cheerleaders and fans but about the coaches and the players.(hope you dont mind the football analogy) The cheerleaders and fans are very important and very much appreciated. But, it is the coaches, managers and owners of the team that are slacking. The players are getting the shaft by the ones who are appointed to ensure they are taken care of so they can keep playing and are taken care of after the game is over. Not to diminish yellow ribbons and flag pins but to actually DO something and not just wave a banner is much more proactive. 69 months ago

JEMS...way back when I heard about people having a lot of birth defects in kids. People in the Air Force were complaining about it. Was that in AL or another state in the Deep South? Did they ever fix that problem?

JEMS_Mom said: 1 It is a thankless job. As a veteran and the wife of an active duty soldier dealing with medical issues due to misdiagnoses at the hands of incompetent doctors, the treatment simply boggles my mind. Even a few members of the cadre who are placed in charge of the Warrior Transition Unit take advantage of our wounded warriors situations such as their mental issues. It is disgusting. Thankfully, it is only a few of them and there are many more who are dedicated to helping these men and women. Disrespecting veterans and servicemembers really gripes my butt. In my homestate of Alabama, the VA doesn't give a rat's arse about you. At least that was the case in Mobile when I sought treatment for an issue that was military related. That reason is a driving force behind us moving most likely to Colorado when my husband retires. It is more veteran friendly. 69 months ago
