Will a WCB Claim cover usual over time worked or standard 40 hours a week?

Postby wethrby » Mon Oct 31, 2011 5:20 am

My husband was injured on site at his work (construction). He got a call this morning from his Worker's Compensation Board person saying his claim was approved but they needed some more details to complete the processing :)

He thought it might be rude to ask (don't ask why, he's on heavy pain meds) whether or not the money given will be based on the amount of time he actually worked or max out at a 40 hour week?
He usually worked 60 hour weeks since April.

We're in Alberta and I can't find anything about it on the WCB website and he doesn't want me to call and ask "just in case"...

It is based on the 40 hour work week, not what he was generally working. It usually has a max per week, and many skilled workers make more than the max allowed per week. It won't pay anything for the first two weeks, but will catch up in the end.

good luck
