Will this affect my social security check?

i receive a window pension check from social security each month. i am about to get a worker's compensation settlement. will that affect my social security check.

your best bet would be to ask your attorney or cpa. My personal opinion, and I don't know, just guessing here, is that it won't affect your SS check but it "might" affect your taxes or would affect a bankruptcy or any other state benefits you may receive (like food stamps or medicare payment assistance). Ask.

Do you mean "widow's" pension? A workmen's compensation check shouldn't affect your social security. Social security isn't based on need or other income that I know of, unless you're between 62 and 66 and still working. Then your social security is offset based on the income you have from your job.

No. SS is determined by the amount paid in over a person's working life. KIn this case, your late husband's. The amount you are now receiving is not subject to any readjustment.
