Small Claims

Postby Seorus » Mon May 19, 2014 2:18 am

I went to court today about my old landlord. I explained everything she had violated under NC law. The magistrate still passed a judgement against me. The landlord lied while in court today about what she had told me over the phone and wrote down on my last statement. How do I go about getting the judgement reversed because I'm suppose to be buying a house in Septmember and I don't want that process messed up.

Did you check with your small claims court for an appeal process?

You can file an appeal if you don't agree with the decision.
See Chapter 7 - Appeals to District Court.

An appeal is a do-over.
But it's more formal and more complicated.
You will be expected to present EVIDENCE, not just "explain" things.
