Unemployment Predicament

Postby Akub » Sat Jun 07, 2014 11:04 am

Hi, in regards to a month before my vehicle quit on me and that I needed to promote it. I required to possess my routine altered at the office from 2pm-11pm to anything earlier since there is no coach that operates after 11pm where I'm. In the place of altering my routine they transformed a co workers therefore she might provide me trips but she occasionally will require me to function and never pickmeup. I've talked my problem many times and also have been informed "nocando". <br />
I reside in Portland, OR and several individuals utilize public transportation below. I told my employer today that I really like my work but require an early on change that works together with Trimet bus occasions (Several co workers experience the coach). He explained " You're a developed and have to discover your personal method". I don't possess a trip home today and so I am calling in and certainly will probably be dismissed. Personally I think it's unjust simply because they do that for individuals constantly and that I have evidence. Am I going to have the ability to apply for unemployment while I get another work? I'm not attempting to be dismissed since I want the insurance-but I'm in a difficult posistion below and that I do not understand what to complete. Cheers for studying my post. <br />

Unemployment Conundrum

Yes, and also you could be a good idea to discover other transportation options before you simply "call-in" and obtain fired.  what about a scooter or motorbike?  Inexpensive and efficient.  what about a bicycle?  Pedal or electrical?  Inexpensive and efficient.  what about a cab, one of the ways?  Not inexpensive, but efficient.  Uless you're THE ONLY REAL person who works 2 - 11 PM, what about wondering around and find out if anyone is certainly going inside your path?  they do not need to go wherever you wish to proceed, simply close.  From there-you possibly wander or experience your bike.<br />
You'll find a means, if you NEED to.  If you do not, you thenare back again to "it's my issue".  There's typically an answer if you simply look.  <br />

Thanks for your feeback, I really appreciate it. I understand it is my problem and that is just life. I guess it will just come down to the phone call with myself, my boss, and a judge when they appeal my claim. Thanks again!

Unemployment Conundrum

I am sympathetic for your scenario your transport problems are your issues, not your companyis. They don't need to alter your projects routine to accommodate your have to experience the bus.<br />
May I have the ability to apply for unemployment while I get another work?  obviously you are able to apply for unemployment benefits; whether you obtain them is as much as the State.  because itis your responsibility to obtain oneself to function frequently, I am scared your likelihood of being granted UC benefits is iffy.

Unemployment Conundrum

Before you give your boss any ultimatums I suggest you google Oregon Unemployment Compensation and see what the rules are that might disqualify you for benefits given your situation.

If the rules are clear, then an appeals judge won't be of any help.

Unemployment Conundrum

Nothing unfair about it and certainly not illegal.

Your employer has absolutely no obligation to adjust your work schedule because of your transportation issues.

If you get fired for not showing up, you are not likely to qualify for UI benefits.

Unemployment Conundrum

I suppose that youare saying you've investigated whether there is a path within walking distance that operates after 11p.  It Is iffy that you'd get unemployment benefits as a result of this problem, even when the job-about is the fact that you'd need to make use of a taxi to make the journey to X stage where the vehicles do operate late.
