Doctors order tons and tons of unnecessary tests just in case they might get sued

No. Insurance companies are a major reason for high medical costs in this country. Insurance CEOs make $millions a year in salary and other bennies. The new health care law will REQUIRE the insurance company spend a high percentage of their premiums on actual medical care instead of salaries and benefits for their top management. The industry is fighting that tooth and claw. They want to define some personnel issues as "medical care". Democrats are trying to stop them.

The link below gives compensation rates for some of the insurance CEOs. IMO, they could live quite well on less $$$$.

No.
Do some Research and Reading on your own (while avoiding the pitfalls of believing the lying political hacks); just follow the numbers.
Check out the independence and veracity of the sources of your reading.
Try asking a few local Doctors and Nurses.
Check out who is being paid what amounts for doing what.
You will find that ;lawyers are the least of the "rip-offs" costing us all more than is right!
When you are talking to a Doctor and a Nurse consider, too, talking to a lawyer.
(perhaps one who does not handle the types of case about which you ask).
Hopefully, you will be able to discern the truthfulness of your sources.

Yes the doctors have to order those unnecessary tests.... Not only because they might be sued, and insurance companies have mandates set up by the government... to cover things that are not needed.

They are a factor but not a major one. Overutilization of services is much more important.

No.

Lawyers do not create malpractice claims, greedy clients do.
