I use to skip class all the time, and I would get disciplinary actions for MY choices. Doesn't this actually complicate and destroy family's if they can't afford to pay the fines or lose their job over jail time? What congressmen were on crack when making this law?

No, at least not here. If that were true my parents would be on death row by now. I agree with you, though, if that is the case somewhere, it's ridiculous.

Yes. Truancy laws. But I think it's only in extreme cases. It's meant for dead-beat parents who don't make their children go to school, especially young ones who aren't skipping, they just have lazy-*** parents who won't take them and don't care.

Generally parents are not fined or jailed. Worst case, a kid can be placed in a group home. (Can tell you skipped school--you refer to "this law" without actually citing a law.)

So, you're outraged at your own misstatement? You should be...
