Availability for Management Position?

Postby larry » Thu Apr 07, 2011 5:13 am

At work, I have the possibility of promotion to a managerial position at work, but, where I work, a managerial position also comes with the responsibility of being a key holder to the property.

I live in Ohio and work at a mall; I'm 17, BUT, I have graduated high school, so most of the Ohio Minor Labor laws don't apply to me. I've looked through the Ohio Revised Code, but I can't seem to find anything about minors and/or access to public property. My boss owns his store, but leases the space from the mall, so my assumption is that the store is still public property (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Considering the above facts, and the fact that for most work-related purposes in Ohio, I'm not "technically" a minor, would it be legal for me to hold a key to that store? If you could cite sections of the OHR for reference, that would be great.

No the store is private property. Public property is a government building or a city park or city street---somehting paid for and maintained by taxpayer money. The store is private property. The mall is private property. The mall parking lot is private property. It is legal for the boss to promote you to a mangament position and give you a key to the store.
