Can a patent be sold before it is granted?

Hey, I wanted to know if a patent can be sold or if a patent application can be sold (transfered)...thank you!

Yes, an invention and some or all of its pending patent applications can be sold at any time. There are lawyers who specialize in valuation and legal transfer documents for those types of property.

Yes. This happens all the time. There are two ways to transfer rights from a patent.

1. You can sell the patent or patent application (just like selling a car or a house)
2. You can license the rights to your patent or patent application (just like renting out your house or a room in your house)
