Can I win this case ( Traffic)?

Okay so this happened to my mom but I am going to tell what happened through her eyes


I was driving down the street, and saw a van slowing down up ahead, so I slowed down too, then the van came to a complete stop and so did I, then the van started to back up, I was driving a shift so I tried as fast as I could to get the car in reverse but it was too late and the man hit me. (Just mentioning, not a thing is wrong with his van but my front bumper is messed up! It is pretty much pushed in on the middle and just wrong!) So he got out of the car and asked if I had called the police and I said no you can, he then asked me the number and I told him 911, The police came and started asking questions and we both told him that be reversed into me! They asked us if anything was wrong with us and we both said no, some where in the questioning the woman whose drive way we had pulled into had came up and rolled down her window, and kept saying excuse me to the man and he looked at me and I pointed to her, so he moved his van to let her in, the man is exactly 80 years old and he couldn't hear the woman or be honking my horn when he was backing up into me, so then they gave ME a ticket, for and I quote " Failing to slow down to avoid collison." (And the time is wrong on the ticket, so the time and the charge is wrong), But remember I came to a compliet stop, and he hit me, I am also wondering is it illegal to reverse down a road? So I got home, and almost immediately called my insurance, telling them that he hit me, and I need my bumper fixed and they said they would help me but she needed to get his side so the next day she ( Insurance worker) called him, and asked him what happened now he wouldn't say I hit him but he wouldn't say he hit me, he said that the police said I hit him, now I think he might be suing, saying he is hurt, which he confirmed he wasn't, so would I win the case my word against his, there are some questions in the paragraph so if you can answer them too, like is it illegal to reverse down a road, that he admitted to, ( The reason he reverse was cause he is a washer repair man and missed the house, so thanks in advance)

Fight it in traffic court. Illegal or not, he backed into you, so he's at fault and the cop is a jerk.
