I payed for a speeding ticket that was $140 and it didn't get to the district on one by mail so now I'm being charged $235. I only have a month to pay and I was just curious if they didn't accept the money order can I cancel it and have my money back so that I can use it to pay the $235?

Take the money order back to the place you bought, they usually will allow you to cancel it and get a refund of the face value (you don't get the fees refunded).

Prevailing laws vary. Did you retain your receipt? It's your proof to show to the clerk. Most often one can file for a refund and if the M.O. was not cashed after "x" days then they will process a refund. Do not wait for this to happen before you pay up. I'm sure the late fees would grow to wild proportions.
